Steve and I just shot our first ski race. An epic accomplishment considering …
It was Steve's first time skiing. I had been skiing before but it was nothing like I expected.

After photographing two phenomenal kids in the studio Saturday morning, it was off to Sugar Mountain. We wanted to get there a little early so we could practice. We rented our gear and hit the bunny slope. Since I skied before, the bunny hill was easy. After a little practice, Steve fell less and less every time he came down until we were ready to move up to the next hill. I talked to other skiers to get pointers on how to get on and off the lift and what skills were needed to move on. They seemed confident we could do it, but wait a minute, they just met us. Of course we took their advice; what else did we have? The first chair lift experience was cool. We didn’t cause any back-ups. And we both made it down “Easy Street” with no falls!
The next morning was the real deal. We asked one of the parents where the race was.
SHE SAID, “GET ON THIS LIFT FIRST, THEN DON’T SKI DOWN, BUT CATCH THE NEXT LIFT TO BIG RED”
Our jaws dropped. “BIG RED?”
Needles to say we will go the extra mile to get the shot. After a lot of falling, fooling and then finally some instruction, both we and our equipment made it home in one piece.
Thank to...

Quite a crew just to get two people down a mountain!
